His name is Dr. Duan and he is the president of CMS. He had hired me earlier this year along with a few other teachers to teach ESL in China at a Montessori kindergarten (Dongcheng International Children's House, in Qingdao). None of us American teachers were montessori trained, nor were the Chinese teachers we worked under.    Reasons for my complaints:   He hired us using an AMIO license to hire foreign teachers in Shandong, China. Then, he illegally "sold" us to other schools that were not licensed to hire foreign teachers. Mine and another teacher's passports were confiscated by the police because of this matter and told our school was bad. The teachers and Dr. Duan told us to tell the police many lies about who we worked for and how much we were paid or else we would be deported. After all was said and done, our lies told, the police gave us back our passports and I was told by Dr. Duan that I could cut my contract short. Something I had asked to do a month prior but was denied. When I objected due to the increased price in plane tickets, he persisted by telling me I needed to go because any day there would be war in China and Americans are not safe. The man is a liar. He has one foreigner now working for him. This "teacher" is only 24 and lied to the police saying he was volunteering. The truth is, he was making more than me. In order to avoid visa complications for him, since he is on a tourist visa, Dr. Duan sends him to South Korea every few months.      There was also a woman whose visa was also sponsored by AMIO. She left the same time as me. Police never knew about her because she wasn't teaching for any montessori school. She was living with a principal, against her wishes and arranged by Dr. Duan. Her job, contrary to her contract was to tutor this principal. Eventually, Dr. Duan allowed her to move out into her own apartment. But she still had to tutor the principle. If she failed to do this, she must leave China and will be banned from returning for 10 years. After the police started questioning Dr. Duan, I was let go and she volunteered to leave as well. The 24 year old, on the other hand, who doesn't care about the job, Montessori or being a good teacher, comes to the school hung over and drunk almost every day. But they LOVE him. I would like to know if there is any way I can get this man to email me the letter of release that I deserve and/or the flight reimbursement that was promised on my contract but denied as well. These people are all VERY manipulative.      Dr. Duan who is quoted on the AMI website  “Innocent Children, Amicable Family, Friendly Environment, Harmonious Society, Stability Country, Peace World.” – from “Montessori Peace Education“, written by Dr. Duan, published in 2010  is a fraud.  He conducts business illegally. He is rude and sexist. He does not treat his workers with respect. He does not follow or encourage Montessori.    This man should not be using the Montessori name the way he does, out of greed.

I also agree Dr. Duan and CMS are bad news for English teachers! He is racist against Africans or anyone who's skin is not pure white. He think himself so smart but he doesn't have a clue on how to deal with foreign teachers. He bears down extra hard and tries to abuse as a result. He does not know what else to do. Terrible management at the CMS schools. They are not schools. They are daycare, and very very expensive!!! Montessori is surely is rolling in the grave if she can know how much money they take from desperate parents. using her name. Methods not true Montessori. Just greedy people, enemy of Foreign Teachers!!! He has harmed and deceived many of us and he does not care. The man will say anything to get what he wants. ONLY IN CHINA could someone like this be exist!!!!!!!!

I strongly do not recommend working here. Every thing a battle. The director says "Just communicate with us if you have questions" but showed irritation when we ask for help. Many issues with housing & renumeration. Some CMS staff were wonderful. But theres also a lot of resentment in the air. It was all very strange sometimes.

They do provide Zvisa but LOOK CAREFULLY AT THE CONTRACT. It is deliberately confusing and gray areas. Don't be fooled by the ads saying "You just have to play with kids". No, the job is not easy. Confusing and contradicting instructions, adding unexpected duties that are clearly unreasonable, & ALWAYS have something negative to say. Chinese ts rarely use Montessori materials & DIDN'T KNOW HOW. Online shopping, gossip, flirting with white male teachers, that's how they spend class. NOT the place to learn Montessori if you're thinking to start training in that career path. CMS is not worth it!! There are much better jobs in China, keep looking
