The biggest regret I have is working for this joke of an institution! The management love to nit pick at very small things. The children I taught were an absolute nightmare! They are even more challenging than children in the UK. I taught this one class twice a day where there were 40 children and the boys and girls used to physically fight with each other. They're rich Chinese kids that are always used to getting their own way so when I told them, you need to behave and do some work, a lot of them threw tantrums. There were a couple of occasions when I confiscated a child's toys because they were distrating the other pupils and they ripped their English books up and threw them on the floor. There was an incident where two children got up and tried to stab each other in the throat with fountain pens. There was another occasion where a child brought a pen-knife to school and pulled one out in class. Luckily he gave it straight to me when I asked him to give it to me. It was very common for me to be teaching a lesson and for a fight to suddenly break out, The worrying thing is these children were 9 or 10 years old at the time!
This oganisation agree with me in a contract that they will pay me for the summer holiday even if I don't renew my contract at the end of the year. When i told them towards the end of the year that I wanted to work at another school, they cancelled my contract and visa a few days after and they forced me to sign or they told me that they wouldn't give me a reference which the other school needed for visa reasons.
I wouldn't waste your time on this dishonest and deceitful organisation!
The money is good if you're not a qualified teacher in your native country.
This school/agency are a joke!
They will only give you a very basic reference in Chinese and if you ask one in English, they are very reluctant to give you one.
In the original contract, they will pay you for the summer holiday but if you don't want to stay working for them they terminate your contract and visa so I they don't have to pay you for the summer holiday. I know a lot of schools don't like paying you for the summer holiday if you won't sign on for another year but it's decitful to have an agreement and then for them to change their mind to suit them.
They're very picky about the most s*u*i* little things for examples they were picky with me over things like having a white background on the PPT. They just love to nit pick over s*u*i* things!
A lot of the children I taugh were very challenging.
Teaching standards are a lot lower than the top international schools.
Advice to Management
Stick to your side of the contract!
Don't nit pick over very small things!
