I worked with this school for only a handful of months, teaching one group course and a private, off-site lesson for one student. I cannot stress how inconsistent this school is with paying their teachers on time. I luckily was working with another private language school at the time, so I was able to pay for my bills, but if your employer is solely New York Studio, expect that during many months you will not be able to pay rent, or any of your other bills, on time. Also, almost no one in the Accounting Department speaks English, so if you are a foreigner like myself with little Turkish skills, you will find yourself in the Accounting office on payday with the staff looking at you confusedly while you are asking for your paycheck. Literally every month that I worked for this school, they had some excuse for why they couldn't pay me on time.
The Taksim office in located on Istiklal street, about a 5 minute walk from the Sishane metro stop. So for those living on the European side, with access to the Metro, the location is very convenient.
The pay is minimal--less than 35TL/hour. The hours are long and there is no support for preparing your lesson plans. You waste too much time filling out multiple useless documents for the administration to process, prior to them distributing your paycheck--which, again, will not be given to you on time. Reimburs*m*nt for travel for off-site lessons is also very minimal.
The staff is useless and unhelpful for the teachers. They are solely there to keep the New York Studio machine running by getting more clients through the door and signed up for classes.
I cannot comment on the housing that is provided for by this school. I was already settled in Istanbul when I started working there.
